Virtual website Assistant

If you are good with computers, proficient on the Internet and skilled in building and managing websites you may qualify to be a virtual website assistant. As the job title suggests, you will be performing your job duties from your home office or other preferred location rather than at the same site as your employer. Sometimes you will never even meet your employer in person because you will be working for someone across the country or even across the world. The demand for this type of assistant is higher than you might think.

There are many website developers who run multiple sites and don't have time to maintain them all. This is where a virtual assistant comes in very handy. As a website assistant your job duties may include maintaining the site, programming, designing, moderating forums and comments, marketing, adding and removing site materials and much more. There is a lot of work that goes into keeping a website running and not all web developers want to do it themselves. The pay for a website assistant depends on what your duties are, who you work for, how much they can afford to pay you, and various other factors. Some assistants make lots of money while others make a part time income.

If you are not sure whether or not you have the skills needed to succeed in this job field, try building and maintaining a practice website yourself. If you are good at it then you should be able to work as a basic website assistant. Once you've established that you can do this type of work the next step is to look for a job. You can try large job boards like Monster but may have better luck on sites catering to freelancers and people wanting to hire freelancers. These sites include Elance and Guru, to name just two.

You will need to create an online profile that tells your potential employers more about you. Include your skills and what areas you are proficient in. You will also need to upload a resume that should reflect your education, work history and skills. There should also be an area where you can write a cover letter and explain your skills, abilities, personality and what you are looking for in a more informal manner. If you are good with computers and want to work from home, a virtual website assistant might just be the job for you!
